Bitumen price: how to compare quotes and delivered cost

There is no single executable bitumen price

A bitumen price without a grade, quantity, packing format and named delivery location is incomplete. Before comparing numbers, ask whether each offer refers to the same specification and net quantity. Keep the quotation date, expiry and currency visible. Separate an indicative discussion price from a written offer that identifies the actual commercial conditions.

Use oil benchmarks as context

The market dashboard shows published Brent and WTI observations when the source is available. These are crude-oil benchmarks, not quotations for your bitumen shipment. Do not convert a benchmark directly into a bitumen price using an assumed fixed multiplier. Product availability, packing, handling and transport need their own confirmation. Check the observation date rather than treating the latest displayed value as a live trading quote.

Create an inclusion and exclusion list

For each offer, list the product cost, packing, inland movement, loading, inspection, documentation, freight and insurance where applicable. Mark each item as included, excluded or awaiting confirmation. Record the named delivery term and place. Avoid adding an expense twice when it is already included in the quoted basis. Destination charges and applicable taxes need a separate destination-specific check.

Normalise to the same net quantity

For a cost comparison, divide the complete comparable shipment cost by the net metric tonnes of product. Packaging weight is not product weight. If freight is quoted per container and product is quoted per tonne, obtain the confirmed loading plan before combining them. Use the same currency and state the exchange-rate assumption if conversion is necessary.

Ask for a destination-specific quotation

Send the grade, required specification, net quantity, packing, destination and delivery window. Ask for a quotation with a clear expiry and an itemised scope. Reconfirm expired freight or product offers before committing. The VEYRA pricing desk helps structure the request; a market chart alone cannot confirm availability or a delivered selling price.
