Start at the receiving site
Before choosing drums or jumbo bags, describe how the material will be unloaded, stored and prepared for use. Ask the receiving team which formats their equipment accepts. Obtain the producer’s handling instructions for the actual packing system. A format that looks economical at dispatch may create extra work or unsuitable handling conditions at destination.
What to confirm for steel drums
Request dimensions, net fill weight, gross weight, drum condition and closure details. Confirm marking, palletisation if required and the container loading arrangement. Ask how damaged packaging will be documented and handled before dispatch. Do not infer drum count from product tonnage without a confirmed net-weight schedule.
What to confirm for jumbo bags
Jumbo bag systems are not interchangeable. Ask for the bag specification, liner details, capacity, lifting requirements and instructions for releasing or processing the product. Confirm compatibility with the receiving equipment and the carrier’s acceptance conditions. The packing supplier’s written instructions should govern handling; a general web guide is not an operating procedure.
Compare the full packing cost
Compare packaging, loading, freight, unloading, product preparation, storage and waste handling on the same net-tonnage basis. Request a confirmed payload and loading plan for each option. Include equipment availability and labour requirements in the review. A lower packing price does not by itself establish the lower usable delivered cost.
Put the agreed packing in the offer
Record the selected format, net weight, tolerances, markings, inspection requirements and destination constraints in the commercial discussion. If packing changes, review the freight and receiving plan again. Send VEYRA the product grade, net quantity, destination and preferred packing so the enquiry can be checked against the proposed supply arrangement.
